California Forever Billionaire Power Grab Is Here. Take Action Now!

We’ve heard for months that California Forever has spent the last year begging the Governor and California state legislators for a special deal that would allow them total control to create a major industrial development in the tiny community of Collinsville, which sits at the gateway of the Sacramento-San Joaquin River Delta, the hub of California’s water supply.

A bill to do just that is going public today; details are previewed here, but most importantly, this bill:

• Eliminates environmental review for a large new industrial site in Collinsville for shipbuilding and other undisclosed industrial uses.

• Overrides the vote of the people of Solano County who have, since 1984, preserved the right to weigh in on land use changes through the Orderly Growth Initiative.

The proposed legislation allowing this deal is being released with just a few days left in the legislative session. This last-minute approach avoids the normal legislative review process and severely limits opportunities for any analysis of the proposal. This is not surprising, as California Forever has consistently tried to cut out public input at every turn.

We need your help to fight back:

1. Attend the upcoming Solano County Board of Supervisors meeting on Tuesday, August 25th: Tell our Supervisors not to support legislation that is a giveaway to the billionaires that secretly bought up all this land. We recommend arriving at 1:00 p.m.
